What Is Self Awareness? (Reasons To Unlock Yours)

The development of Self Awareness shape
Individuals to become conscious of themselves.

In this post, You’ll Discover what self awareness is?
How can it be beneficial instead of hurtful?

How one can cultivate it? (Practice Tips)
Why Does Self Awareness Matter?

We see a lot of unhappy Rich people lately and ask ourselves
how come is this possible.
Well, we live in a time where the majority of
people associate and connect Succesful with Money.

When you associate success only with money, you simply
miss the opportunity to Enjoy & Experience life at its best.

1. Definition

Plain and simple definition of Self Awareness is
the practice of paying attention in the present moment
to what is happening inside your body and your mind
as well as in your immediate surroundings.

This living with a quiet mind creates a state of
pure bliss that comes from being entirely in the moment.
Truly nothing matters but the present.

Self Awareness is knowing yourself, your character,
your feelings, your desires, and motives.
Self Awareness allows you to understand other people,
how they perceive you, your attitude and your
responses to them at the moment.

But along the way, living in this fast and demanding world,
we tend to forget to take care of our body,
our relationships, family, our feelings.

-Some Hurtful Facts-

Most disappointing fact is that we tend to listen
to others about something that brings
no true value to us and give advice, but we simply
don’t have the time for ourselves and for our real needs.

If you start experimenting with people you will
see 95% of all people have regrets of the past.
Someone regrets some decision they
make 5-10 years ago, some the chance
they had to gain something, and so on.

Which opens the question I like to ask myself,
Can any good come if this regret keeps spinning in my head? or
Why do I keep thinking about this past experience?

These are powerful questions that if you decide to use
it constantly when you are facing regrets or
past painful memories it can really
become a powerful tool for yourself
and shift you in the right direction.

-Negative World-

Now the reason that we’re visualizing negative situations
in our life is because let’s not kid ourselves,
we’re living in a negative world.
Example: So if I say, “Jack, how are you feeling today?”
He says, “Good, fine.”
And I ask him the next day how he feels,
and he says, “I Feel Terrible.
I’ve got a pain in my stomach and I ache all over.”
And he goes into a motion…you’d think he was an actor.
He can describe a negative situation
in his body so wonderfully.

But when he feels good, he just says, “Fine.”
How come, people when they feel fine,
they don’t say, “I feel great; I feel wonderful;
I feel so great that I expect all the wonderful things
in the world to happen to me today!

2. How Can I Benefit From This?

Self-awareness is important because
accurate self-awareness is essential for optimal
daily life activities, as it allows adapting individual
behavior to different situations according to one’s actual abilities.

Self-awareness allows us to know what our limitations are
& allows us to make choices based on our capabilities.

When we focus our attention on ourselves,
we evaluate and compare our current behavior
to our internal standards and values.
We become self-conscious as objective evaluators of ourselves.

Furthermore, self-awareness goes beyond
merely accumulating knowledge about ourselves.

It is also about paying attention to our inner state
with a beginner’s mind and an open heart.
Our mind is extremely skillful at storing information
about how we react to a certain event
to form a blueprint of our emotional life.

A number of researches have shown self-awareness
as a crucial trait of successful business leaders.
In a study undertaken by Green Peak Partners
and Cornell University examining 72 executives at
public and private companies with revenues
from $50 million to $5 billion,
it was found that “a high self-awareness score was
the strongest predictor of overall success”.

3. How To Cultivate Self Awareness
(Practice Tips)

When we focus our attention on ourselves,
we evaluate and compare our current behavior
to our internal standards and values.
We become self-conscious as objective evaluators of ourselves.

Most of the time we are simply “not there” to observe ourselves.
In other words, we are not there to pay attention
to what’s going on inside or around us.

Let’s say you wake up and immediately think
for whatever reason or for no particular reason at all
that today is going to be a terrible day,
your attitude might make your prediction come true.
You may unconsciously work to affirm
your belief by ignoring the positive,
amplifying the negative, and behaving in ways
that are unlikely to contribute to an enjoyable day.

Take the time and observe

what are you thinking

right after you’ll wake up for the next 5 days?

-Practice being a good listener-

Listening is not the same as hearing.
Listening is about being present and paying attention
to other people’s emotions, body movement, and language.
It is about showing empathy and understanding
without constantly evaluating or judging.
When you become a good listener,
You will also be better at listening to your
own inner voice and become the best friend of yourself.

-Practice Gratitude-

Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing
that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously.

Write a specific and clearly defined Gratitude list of
at least 3 things You’re Grateful daily.
When You start to actively, continuously appreciating the good
things around you,
some amazing things will happen for you &
You’ll feel the difference in no time.

Motivating those around you with a positive word-
Can do wonders for you, and those around you.
People will love to hang out with you & appreciate you more.

-Using the power of a Smile-

The endpoint is to reverse the tone of a situation.
First Time I learned & implement this was weird.
I randomly choose 10 people who I will smile,
who didn’t even know me.
The Result was that 7 of those 10 smiled back,
So I figured “if I smile more
only good things can happen &
people will likewise smile at me more.

Being friendly to those you don’t know is powerful
and slowly but steadily builds your self-confidence.

4. Why Does Self-Awareness Matter?

So if self-awareness is so important,
why aren’t we more self-aware?

Self-awareness has been called “arguably the most fundamental
issue in psychology, from both a developmental
and an evolutionary perspective.

Self-awareness is the key cornerstone of emotional intelligence.
The ability to monitor our emotions and thoughts
from moment to moment is key to understanding, being at peace with who we are
and proactively managing our
thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

As human beings, we may never fully understand ourselves
if there is such a destination.
But perhaps it is the journey of exploring, understanding
and becoming ourselves that makes life worth living.

All of this brings us to conclude: People who focus on
building both internal and external self-awareness,
who seek honest feedback can learn to see
themselves more clearly and reap the many
rewards that  self-knowledge delivers.

And no matter how much progress we make,
there’s always more to learn.
That’s one of the things that makes the
journey to self-awareness so exciting!
